ヘッドバンガーシャッド (Headbanger Shad)

毎年アメリカで行われる釣り業界最大の展示会 ICAST 今回は Field & Stream社 が選ぶ ベストルアー2018 と題して 去年発売された ヘッドバンガー社 ヘッドバンガーシャッド を一押しルアーとして 選考していたので紹介する。ヘッドバンガー社はポーランドに拠点を置くビックベイト(パイクマスキー専門)のルアー会社。このルアーは ヘッド と ボディ、テール と３ボディーパーツから構成されているビックベイトだ。ヘッドはチャターベイトでいう ブレードの様な役割を果たしており、今までの 木製ビックベイト では出せなかった イレギュラーな 動きを演出可能となっている。製作者のインタビューによると この手のルアーは 大昔から存在しているらしい。気になるお値段も 2800円程と良心的な値段設定となっている。

Apex freshwater predators, such as pike and muskie, are known for being difficult, inactive, and tough to motivate. To get them to strike, an angler’s only weapon may be a fast bait that moves erratically. Enter the Headbanger Shad. Originally modeled to dupe giant European pike, the Swedish-born bait made its way across the Atlantic. The new Headbanger Shad is a variation of the original Headbanger. It has an interchangeable paddle tail and a panicked, erratic action. The Headbanger Shad is thru-wired for durability and comes in floating, suspending, and sinking models, weighing 2.2 ounces, 2.6 ounces, and 2.9 ounces, respectively. All models are 9 inches long, and are available in eight patterns.

Combining erratic and evasive movement with the irresistible characteristics of the fixed, replaceable paddle tail to give you a swimming action that triggers even the most lethargic fish to strike. The Headbanger Shad 16 cm / 6” works well with just a simple straight retrieve, but excels when used with pauses and twitches. Available in three different buoyancies for different depths and styles of fishing, the 6 inch format is an excellent choice for down-sized pike and musky fishing, and for hunting trophy bass, walleye, trout and zander.

The lure has a wire-through-body construction and is equipped with rattle balls of different sizes for a fuller sound. The lure is lead-free and the weights inside are made of stainless steel. Headbanger Shad is equipped with premium VMC 9655 PS hooks, #2 in the front, #4 in the rear. Trolls up to 2.2 knots / 2.5 mph / 4 km/h.

The tail is easily replaced by turning it counterclockwise to release it from its corkscrew anchor. The lure has two smaller pegs that hold the tail in place and prevents it from twisting out of position when being used.
